In 1968 Austral and Aerotransportes Litoral Argentino, acting as associated companies
purchased three YS-11As.- They were registered LV-JII (c/n 2086), LV-JIJ (c/n 2087) and
LV-JLJ (c/n 2088).- These aicraft were used in the busy Austral route from Buenos Aires to
Montevideo and mainly in some low density A.L.A.'s routes where neither the traffic nor the
aiports were suitable for the new Bac One Elevens, in this situation were the Parana, Paso
de los Libres, Goya and Reconquista routes.- By the end of their carreers the YS-11s
inaugurated new routes to Junín, General Pico, Tandil and Necochea but the new services
failed as the YS-11 was too big for the little traffic generated by this cities.- Finally
by the end of the 70s they were sold to L.A.P.A..- This airline soon replaced them with
Shorts 330, that was a more suitable equipment for the routes operated.-
In their life with A.L.A. and Austral the YS-11s were painted with the colors of each
airline until the merger of the companies in 1971.- From 1972 they were painted in the
Austral Lineas Aéreas colors being blue (LV-JII), green (LV-JLJ) and red (LV-JIJ).-

En 1968, Aerotransportes Litoral Argentino y Austral, que venían operando en forma conjunta,
adquirieron tres YS-11A, que fueron matriculados como LV-JII (Número de serie 2086), LV-JIJ
(N. de serie 2087) y LV-JLJ (N. de serie 2088).- Estas aeronaves fueron destinadas a la
ruta de Austral a Montevideo reemplazando a los DC-6 y, principalmente a ciertas rutas de
A.L.A. de baja densidad de tráfico donde no se justificaba la operación de los entonces nue-
vos Bac One Elevens (Paso de los Libres, Goya, Reconquista, Paraná).- Hacia el fin de su
carrera en Austral Líneas Aéreas los YS-11 inauguraron nuevas rutas a Junín, Tandil, Neco-
chea y General Pico, pero estas no prosperaron ya que resultó ser un equipo demasiado grande
para el escaso tráfico generado por estas ciudades.- Finalmente hacia el fin de la década
del 70 fueron vendidos a L.A.P.A. que a su vez se desprendió rapidamente de los mismos reem-
plazándolos por Shorts 330 que resultaba ser más apropiado para el tipo de rutas que operaba
en ese entonces esa empresa.-
En un principio estas aeronaves estuvieron pintadas con los colores distintivos de cada
empresa, sin embargo en 1971 ambas empresas se fusionaron dando lugar a Austral
Líneas Aéreas por lo que a partir de 1972 fueron pintados con el, por ese entonces, nuevo
esquema de pintura de Austral correspondiéndole el color azul al LV-JII, verde al LV-JLJ
y rojo al JIJ
El diseño original de este avión fue ello por Allied FS Group mi agradecimiento y recono-
